Can you briefly describe the area of business that you are working with, including your primary work tasks?
I work with R&D Management Support. Our task is to realize top management’s initiatives, including the optimization of processes, development of new projects, creating transparency, or other internal consulting tasks.
My main responsibilities involve the development of a quarterly report that assesses risks, usage, quality, and more, for all development projects and driving an internal knowledge sharing initiative. Besides statistical analysis, KPI development and report structure, my tasks involve a significant amount of exposure to top management through meetings and alignment. I also support the R&D management team on more ad hoc tasks like due diligence, data analysis, structuring decks, etc.

What are the most exciting and challenging tasks that you face in your job?
Though 3Shape has existed for nearly 20 years, there is still a strong start-up culture present in the organization. People are encouraged to take responsibility, initiative and intelligent risks.
I'm fortunate enough to be given a significant amount of autonomy on how to solve problems. Having the responsibility and autonomy to shape future solutions is both a gift and challenge sometimes. In the end, it pushes you to outperform on your deliverables, as it becomes your own little start-up project to care for.

How do you use your education in your current position?
Different theories and perspectives from my studies has been helpful in being able to interpret situations from different angles. The most frequently used element from my education is having the ability to breakdown complex problems into components and testing different hypotheses.
Furthermore, as with research and studies, supporting your findings with arguments is a valuable skill, when presenting a possible solution to the project’s primary stakeholders.

Besides being driven and a willingness to take responsibility, the most important part is having fun. We're one big global family who enjoy a good time while doing serious business!

What attracted me to 3Shape was the opportunity to work closely together with some of the brightest minds from a wide range of industries. Being able to learn from people with an immense amount of experience to develop your own toolbox is a great privilege. Personal development is also an important focus area that you are introduced to early in your employment. Managers support and guide you in achieving your personal and work-related goals.
