Om uddannelsen
Economics
The BSc in Economics is oriented to train economists with leadership capacities and prepare them for a constantly changing globalized world. This program distinguishes itself by the rigor and realism of its economic analysis, emphasizes the value of individual autonomy and teamwork, and encourages a sense of ethical responsibility and a critical spirit.
The Bachelor is founded upon the fundamental areas of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. These are completed by more specific areas like International Economics, Economics of the Environment, Public Finance, Financial and Monetary Economics, Development Policy, Competition and Cohesion, Economics of Labour and Human Resources, Innovation and Globalization, among others.
In Portugal, the International Student Statute for higher education has entered into effect. This Statute grants foreign students (from outside of the European Union and the Lusophone Counties) eligibility for application and a specific numbers of vacancies at Portuguese universities. This Statute allows international students to apply directly to the Bachelor in Economics at Iscte.
Teacher-Student Proximity
Learning happens at Iscte in an environment of close proximity between students and teachers. This quality is demonstrated in the professors' collegial teaching practices, their strong support for the Economics student's association, their holding of weekly office hours for students, their permanent availability by e-mail and their close connection with former students throughout their professional lives.
