How would you describe your business field and main tasks?
I work as an engineer in Ørsted’s Bioenergy branch, with a focus on the development of a new waste management/waste-to-energy technology called Renescience. In this business area, we are approaching the municipal solid waste issue from a new perspective, in which we create as much value from it as possible.
My main tasks comprise writing technical specifications, evaluating received offers from a technical perspective and taking part in the development of new equipment.

What are the most exciting and challenging parts of your job?
The most exciting and challenging tasks are the ones related to the development of new equipment for the Renescience technology. For instance, I worked in the design process of a piece of equipment (a reactor) that is at the core of the technology, and so it had a great impact on the future of that technology.

How do you use your education in your position?
I had two distinct, but complementary backgrounds that I use in my current position. As a mechanical engineer, I use my knowledge for equipment design, selection and evaluation on its suitability to the process. In addition, I gained a complete understanding of biogas technology and circular economy, which are key elements in my current position, while studying Renewable Energy.

Why is Ørsted an attractive company for you to work in?
The special focus on sustainability is the major aspect that makes Ørsted a very attractive company for me. Over the past years, the company has re-invented itself and is now a leading company in the renewable energy field. On top of that, there is a big focus on providing a good work-life balance for its employees and, at the same time, a great focus on its employees’ development.
