The work field is extensive, covering technology, economy, safety and environmental issues. The tasks include evaluation and choice of technical solutions, calculations and shaping, and building. Cooperation with architects and future users is an important part of the job. The construction industry is project-oriented, and not two projects are identical. That creates diverse challenges.

The tasks you will meet in your job will be further discussed in the description of our fields of study. In the first to years (four semesters) of your study, you will expand your knowledge in the natural sciences at the same time as you start learning about civil and environmental engineering. Later, you choose your field of specialization, for example whether you would like to work with engineering within construction and building, structures, materials, geotechnics and foundation, roads and transportation, water and the environment or maps and geomatics.
