Reception office for international students
The International Welcome Office at the UAM was created with the purpose of providing a comprehensive service to international students, researchers and professors, meeting their needs for information or academic and administrative guidance.
This internationalisation initiative is one of the mainstays of the UAM+CSIC International Campus of Excellence, and it is integrated in the University Strategy 2015 and 2025.
Main activities
Support services for the arrival, stay and departure of foreign students, teachers and researchers.
- Information on how to obtain the initial Student Residence Card (TIE) from the Foreigners' Department and its renewal.
- Processing of work authorisations, such as work permit exemptions, research work, etc. with the Government Delegation in Madrid or the Large Companies and Strategic Groups Unit (UGE-CE).
- Contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Consulates and Spanish Embassies abroad to expedite the obtaining of student visas or work permit exemptions.
- Information for foreign researchers/teachers to obtain their social security number.
- Guidance on the procedures for obtaining and renewing residence for the families of students and researchers.
- Information on how to apply for the Return Authorization, in case you wish to travel during your stay in Spain, when necessary.
- Information for non-EU students about the medical insurance required for the renewal of their TIE.
